If you’re a recruiter looking for new career opportunities, there’s some good news.

Employers are seeing a greater need for these professionals, according to Indeed, a company that indexes jobs from all over the Web. Postings for recruiter jobs have increased 49 percent over the past year. During that period, recruiting jobs have increased an average of 6 percent per month, according to Jason Whitman, Indeed’s vice president of client services.

“Recruiters are in demand,” Whitman said last week at the ERE Expo recruiters’ conference in San Diego.

A few industries are experiencing particularly intense demand. Most of the job postings are in three areas:

  • IT and telecom
  • accounting, banking and financial services
  • healthcare

The demand for recruiters is being keenly felt on both the West Coast and the East Coast. The top state for these jobs is California, while the top city is New York City.

When analyzing the job listings, Indeed has noticed increasing use of terms like “talent acquisition” and “talent management.” The company has observed a shift away from the terms “recruiting” and “recruiter,” Whitman said.

You’ll soon be able to find out even more about developments in the field. In early April, Indeed plans to launch an “HR industry trends” section, which will examine recruiting and other segments of human resources.
